Tim Chadsey : Furniture Designer

Born in Toronto Tim came to England in the 1970s to study photography and stayed in London working as a still–life photographer for 25 years.

Turning from photography to furniture design, he trained with Jonathan Markovitz and then worked for Alan Englefield learning from both the traditional and modern craft skills needed to make furniture of the highest quality.

Tim believes that in these days of climate change it is vital to have respect for the environment so along with other responsible makers he use sustainable hardwoods, primarily from Europe and North America. He also uses natural oil and wax finishes to protect and enhance the characteristics of the wood. His aim is to make furniture that emphasizes individuality of style, quality of craftsmanship, beauty of materials and design that will please for generations to come.
