| Henry Gray : Stonemason
Henry Gray is a respected stone carver with adept command of his media.
His creative family background adds greatly to his fluency and natural flare for expression, the inner drive to create is satisfied by the craft.
Henry has always recognised his ability to see form and translate that into artefacts. This helps him to describe common human experiences such as hope, faith and the ambiguities of life.
Henry trained at Weymouth College. After qualifying he was assigned to the restoration programme at Salisbury Cathedral, during which time he was involved in working on the west front, manufacturing gothic architectural masonry and carving.
Since 2000 he has been established as a freelance stone carver, co-operating on large projects and taking private commissions. His current work encompasses architectural masonry, memorials and carving.
“When carving is going really well it makes itself.”
