Katy is coming to the conclusion of her series of Kenya wildlife work and was recently recognised at the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year with a newcomer award for her depiction of a Vulture. Mark Taylor and David Hill have worked as glassmakers since 1989 and have devoted almost all their time to re-creating Roman glass. As well as undertaking private commissions for artists such as Grayson Perry, and making glass for films such as ‘The Favourite’ and television programmes such as ‘Outlander’, they also work on projects involving ancient and historical glassmaking techniques. In recent years they have reproduced the Amarna Fish for the BBC and have made glass for the King’s Chocolate Kitchen at Hampton Court Palace. They have recently installed a wood-fired furnace which has given them the ability to run a wide range of experimental projects involving ancient glass as well as making glass for sale.
